Morning all, thanks for replies and a few emails. Some more details about the
system: it was upgraded from TS 2.x to 3.0 or 3.1 sometime in 2011. There is
an RS232 cable but it hasn't been used for communications since that update.
I don't know enough of the nitty gritty but I assume TS 3.x stopped requiring
the RS232 cable. So I am doing all of this via ethernet with the caveat that
this system was already running TS 3.x. I will summarize all of this when I'm
done for perpetuity but here's what's happened so far. SO FAR Open Text NFS
which is definitely not rated for Win 11 seems to be running ok on Win 11.

1. Mike's suggestion yesterday of checking the services was fruitful, and I
discovered "bfs" wasn't running.
2. I reinstalled Diskless and then bfs was running
3. However, reinstalling Diskless removed some of the configuration for the
 Open Text NFS server.
4. I reconfigured the Open Text NFS server
5. I rebooted the computer
6. I rebooted the CCU with the red button and there was more flashing than
yesterday. (Yesterday was definitely one of those "i've looked at this a
zillion times and it doesn't seem right but I couldn't tell you for sure" but
a few folks confirmed it wasn't right.)
7. cf finally talked to the CCU
8. A few firmware gripes during cf so I am going through that update process now.

I know this seems obvious but I am logged in with a super-super user domain
account on this computer. It took some convincing (to IT) to let me have this
access. So just a heads up to make sure that nmrsu actually has superuser/admin
access or make sure they give you that access, otherwise I don't think Diskless,
Open Text NFS, etc could make the firewall changes it needs to make.

I will continue to update my progress (and if I'm actually able to acquire
data) but thank you everyone.
