Hi Jon,
Aside from verifying pneumatic pressure and flow rate, there is a solenoid
valve in the leg that regulates the spin (Clippard Minimatics EV-2-24). It
can become dirty and/or the diaphragm inside it can crack and lose its ability
to operate. When you start the spinning, you should hear one louder click
followed by softer clicks roughly at the spin rate. If not, you can close
the air supply and then carefully twist it open (to not lose the washer and
diaphragm inside) and clean it if the diaphragm is still in good shape (no
split legs). Once reassembled, that might bring it back to life if it was
just blocked by dust. Otherwise, replacements aren't too expensive from
e-Bay or online retailers.

We have a Varian Mercury plus 400 MHz system with an Oxford magnet. Mostly,
this system sits idle waiting until our newer Bruker system becomes inoperable.
Yesterday, we were unable to get the sample to spin at all. I've removed and
cleaned the upper barrel, removed and checked the probe for debris or broken
tubes that would bind the spinning, and tried multiple spinners that have
worked in the past, making sure they were clean and undamaged. I am unsure
what to check next, so I would appreciate any advice.
