Dear All,
We are considering the option to use a local N2 gas generator at high flow,
pressure, and purity to replace what we currently use in the form of
boil-off gas from a large LN2 tank. LN2 supply is getting surprisingly more
expensive year over year thanks to consolidation of the vendors, and with
multiple instruments equipped with MAS, the annual cost can quickly spin
out of control (pun intended). We are in communication with multiple
vendors but the bottom line is that there are commercially available units
that promise to supply 99.999% N2 gas at 100 psi and high flow rates (up to
70 CFM, which should be more than sufficient for 6 MAS equipped instruments
for instance). The initial investment would be substantial, but like the
helium recovery systems the unit would pay for itself quickly. I am
wondering if anyone has implemented such a solution and if so whether you
could provide feedback regarding pros and cons about your experience. Many
