AMMRL: Query about PFG coil failure

Dear all,

I recently had the gradient coil in our solution triple res probe fail in the middle of collecting a 15N-HSQC experiment. I've confirmed this probe fails reproducibly at any gradient strength above ~8-10 G/cm and a different probe is fine up to max gradient power.

I've been tasked to find out how prevalent this sort of failure actually is. So far I've found one other site that seems to have a similar problem.

If you've ever had your gradients fail somewhat spontaneously during normal operation or know of someone else who has, I'd appreciate a quick note along with a brief description of what may have happened. I'm not looking for failures due to real user error, such as turning on a full power gradient pulse for several seconds.

I'll post a brief summary in a week or so.

Cheers,
Andrew
