NMR Assistant Position is available at the Chemistry department at
University of Pittsburgh.
The NMR Assistant will assist the Director in the day-to-day operation of
the Pitt NMR facility, which comprises six high field spectrometers.
Maintenance responsibilities include regular shimming, optimization of
experimental parameters, spectrometer testing, cryogen filling and
software/hard disk upkeep. Service responsibilities include running NMR
spectra for intra-and extra-departmental research groups. The Assistant
will also support existing users of the NMR spectrometers and train new
ones.
A BS/BA degree with training in instrumental analysis is required. An MS
degree and/or 1-2 years experience with NMR spectrometers is helpful, but
not required.
