There is a J-coupling effect only when the gradient pulses are long. Other
distortions to the lineshape occur when the preemphasis is imperfect. I would
recheck the preemphasis and try to shorten the gradient pulse lengths by using
a rectangular pulse (if you are not doing so already) or lengthening the
delay between pulses. Be aware that convection can also ruin your results by
changing the intensities.
