Dear Colleagues:
I've replaced the hard drive (as several of you suggested), but
after installing Solaris 8, the system "froze" on me while I was using
vi to edit the inetd.conf file. Once again, mouse/keyboard non
responsive, STOP-A wouldn't work, etc. I am really beginning to suspect
that the motherboard or CPU is bad, and if that is the case I would
rather purchase a Sun Blade 150 for $995 academic versus a used Ultra 5
for $575. Just a couple of questions:
1) Has anyone used their old 501-5656 Ethernet/SCSI card from an Ultra
5/10 in a SunBlade to communicate with the Mercury?
2) Varian recommends 512 MByte for VNMR/Sunblade, but would 256 do?
Thanks again for your assistance,
Bill
