We started having very broad artifacts in our EPR spectra at low fields (<1000 G)
due to some tube impurity. We have switched to suprasil for most things now. For
both situations, we were buying lengths of quartz (either natural fused quartz
or suprasil) and having our glassblower make the tubes. This was a few years ago
so it's possible the quartz we had was just a bad batch with an impurity. Regardless,
we haven't ever seen the broad peak again with suprasil.
