Hello,
Has any one out there tried to use a Blade 100 workstation with a VAST system
(and a Unity INOVA console)?
I need to upgrade the SUN workstation on our INOVA 500 from an Ultra 1 and am considering the
Blade 100. However, communication to the Gilson 215 (VAST) system uses a DB25 (RS232)
serial port. The Blade 100 comes with only a single (DB9 type) serial port. I know that you
can buy adaptors &/or convertors go from 25 pin to 9 pin, but is that's all that's required? Could it be
that easy?
(SUN support made the helpful suggestion that I purchase an RS449 serial card for $1995
to go in the $995 Blade 100. This just seems wrong on many levels.)
