nolock: XWIN-NMR and LINUX NFS questions

Hello Rudi:

Thank you very much for your instruction. After I added the
"nolock" option on the 2nd computer (Linux 7.3), I can
open the NMR data from the 1st computer (Linux 7.1) NFS now.

I think that it might be related to file locking. What are the relevant
lines in the /etc/exports and /etc/fstab, or auto.xx files on the host
and client? Do you have any error messages in the log files?

I set it up as follows:
On the the server: in /etc/exports,
     <workstation.name>(rw,no_root_squash)
On the client, using autofs:
        data -soft,intr,retry=3,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,nolock avb400:/opt/xwinnmr/data

I fond that the nolock option is needed with our IRIX servers,
perhaps this might help with your problem.

BTW: As a matter of preference, we copy the data sets to a workstation
for processing. The reasoning is that the original can always be copied
again if case something does not go as planned.

Good luck,

Rudi
