Hello all :
Thank you all for your suggestions, but my problem is still not resolved.
I have two Linux computers:
1st computer: (Red Hat Linux 7.1) is the host workstation (800 MHz NMR)
2nd computer: (Red Hat Linux 7.3) is a datastation.
I want to use XWIN-NMR on the 2nd computer (datastation) to read and
process the data on the 1st computer ( NMR host workstation ) using NFS .
In a shell on the 2nd computer , I can see all the NFS files from the 1st
computer .
I can also see all the data set list within XWIN-NMR.
After I click <Search>, <Append>, I can see the data set is added,
but XWIN-NMR hangs (become dead) after I click <Apply>.
I got the same problems even I change the file permissions to "777".
I have to use "xwinnmr -r" to kill the dead XWIN-NMR session.
I have just tried using XWIN-NMR on the 1st computer (Linux 7.1)
to open NMR data on the 2nd computer (Linux 7.3) using NFS and it is OK.
I did not find much configuration differences between the two computers.
I am suspecting that a package called "pam" may cause problem, but I am not sure.
The 1st computer (Linux 7.1) has "pam-0.74-22" package.
The 2nd computer (Linux 7.3) has "pam-0.75-32" package.
Any idea is appreciated.
