NMR Spectroscopist
The Chemistry NMR Facility of the University of Minnesota
anticipates, pending University approval, an opening for an NMR
spectroscopist to augment the facility staff. The facility consists of
five Varian spectrometers (500, three 300, and 200 MHz), and one
Chemagnetics spectrometer (400 MHz) which is used exclusively for solids.
Duties of the new staff member include the maintenance and operation of the
facility, training students in the use of the instruments, and applications
support in the use of modern solution and solid-state NMR techniques to
solve structural problems in chemistry and biochemistry. Candidates should
also have the ability and desire to develop cooperative research projects
with faculty in chemistry. This is a full-time, annually renewable
Research Associate position which would begin January 1, 1997.
Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. (by beginning date of
appointment) in chemistry or related area with expertise in modern NMR
techniques as applied to solution and solid-state chemistry and
biochemistry. Applicants should send a resume and arrange for three
letters of recommendation to be sent to: Professor Eric Munson, Chair, NMR
Search Committee, Department of Chemistry, University of Minnesota,
Minneapolis, Minnesota 55455. It is anticipated that the application
deadline will be November 22, 1996. The University of Minnesota is an
equal opportunity educator and employer.
