As far as I can tell Tool Talk (rpc.ttbdserverd) is not needed for
anything that one cares about for NMR console use. On our first Solaris
2.5 installation I found the disk completely filled one day with a
gigantic tool toalk database file.... another reason to disable it.
We keep it turned off.
The sendmail daemon is only needed for processing inbound
mail. The best thing on Sun workstations used for NMR consoles is to
disable the sendmail daemon. Outbound mail is still processed: the
mailer will invoke a temporary instance of sendmail.
