Dear Friends,

We have replaced Sun-blade system with DELL optiplex 780 (Linux)  for varian Unity-Inova-400 (IF 20 MHz)  (2005 make ) and we were happy with the journey for about  one year, till we encountered problems with data acquisition (number of points less than 256) .  We want to change some boards (ADC  Data-to-memory and Magnet sample reggulation ) as a part of diagnostics.  However, now we have difficulty in connecting the host-computer to the CPU of the console. It looks like we disturbed the original /etc/hosts file.

Can any one help us  by providing the typical host file for the above setup.  I saw in one of the earlier hosts files ,  a line starting with
::1 localhost.localdomain localhost.  This was not the case with Sunblade systems. We did run ./setacq , but no use.   Furthermore, some websites have suggested to edit the file bootptab.51.  Any clues about this file ?

Your suggestions in resolving the problem are highly appreciated.

regards--jagadeesh
