AMMRL: A request from a non-AMMRL member

Dear All:

I was contacted by a person who does vibrational spectroscopy on thin films,
and he want so make films in 5mm NMR tubes. He would like to get his hands
on a stator/spinner assembly for 5mm NMR tubes (such as a discarded
upper-barrel from a liquids NMR system). He would devise a way to connect
the air, and control the spinning speed; however, if someone has an old
spinning assembly, with the turbine and stator, that they could give him I’m
sure he would appreciate it.

Please forward all correspondence to Pierre Moenne-Loccoz
(ploccoz_at_ebs.ogi.edu ). His original message to me is included below.

Cheers,

-Rich Shoemaker

Subject: 5-mm spinning turbine
Dear Dr. Schoemaker / AMMRL.org:

I was about to send this email to the ammrl_at_mmrl.org address when I read in
general info that requests should not be sent to this address, so I am
writing directly to you. I am a vibrational spectroscopist and I have been
trying to generate ~50-um thin liquid films in a 5-mm diameter liquid sample
NMR tubes. The requirements of our experiments are not very stringent at
this time and I managed to make some irregular thin films with bits and
pieces from the lab but I suspect we could do significantly better with a
NMR spinning system. I was hoping to get my hand on a used unit as a step up
for our application and would appreciate your (your organization) help in
locating such a unit.
Best wishes, Pierre ML
