Dear All:
I can't speak to the new Bruker Avance-2 formatted data; however, I can say
that the FID files saved by the new Varian "NMR Spectrometer System" (saved
under VNMRJ 2.1x) are 100% compatible with the older formats. Although new
Varian data is not acquired in quadrature, the digital filtering &
downsampling algorithm used by Varian generates a true quadrature FID that
is no different from the previous Varian FIDs.
Before writing this I did some checking, and I can confirm the following:
1) Direct-Drive FID files open/process fine in VNMR 6.1C and
VJ-1.1D.
2) Direct-Drive FID files open/process fine in SpinWorks 2.4
3) Older Varian FID files open/process fine in VNMRJ-2.1x
4) New Direct-Drive FID files import fine in the latest Nuts
{Note for Nuts users: There was a change in the header which required a
change in the "import" in Nuts, so older versions of Nuts appear to have a
problem. This is not a problem with the Varian FID files not being
quadrature data sets, but rather confusion caused by a flag in the header of
the new files. The current shareware version is fixed, and the updated
full-version of Nuts will be available for download (for current registered
users) shortly.}
The important fact is that the new Varian Direct-Drive consoles & software
creates FID files that are no different that previous FID files from older
Varian instruments.
