Thank you to everyone who responded to my question concerning the location
of the Sun compiler, I apologize I haven't posted the summary sooner. For
those who are like me and didn't know, the Solaris software doesn't come
with a compiler preinstalled. You either have to purchase one or download
one from a reliable source.

The general consensus was to download g77 from <http://www.g95.org/>
http://www.g95.org

It was pointed out to me that Sun software packages contain the following:
"Forte Developer 6 Update 2". The list on the disk shows "Forte Fortran/HPC
6 update 2". This is the Fortran compiler, but I learned the catch behind
it - once you get it installed, you have to contact Sun and buy the license.

I was also told that the Varian software contains the gnu compiler - I
haven't had time to find it.

In the end, one of my colleagues who runs his programs on a Linux cluster
installed the software for me and showed me what was going on.

Thank you again to everyone, I really appreciate your help.

Adrienne
