Dear Spinlanders,
It is with mixed emotions that I write this note. As a few of you know, I
have been working ½ time since last November due to health limitations
resulting from MS. My hope was to be able to maintain this status for
several more years but my condition has not improved. Consequently, I have
decided to go on full-time disability in January.
The last 17 years in the Analytical Science department at Dow Corning have
been enjoyable and productive for me. The NMR Team and Facilities are well
established and busy here and around the world. AMMRL has been a valuable
resource and wonderful group of people to interact with along the way. But
now, with limited strength, I plan to focus primarily on laying up eternal
treasures in heaven. I have recognized that my barns are full enough for
this life and that it is more profitable for me to devote my remaining
energies to serving the Lord more directly through teaching, serving and
mentoring people in my Church or wherever else He may lead.
At Dow Corning, Don Eldred is taking over for me in the U.S. area and has
recently joined the AMMRL ranks. He is particularly gifted in the area of
automation programming and has been of great benefit to us. His work is
already known to some of you and I'm sure you will all enjoy any opportunity
you have for interaction with him as I have.
In preparation for my departure, Dow Corning is seeking another energetic
person to augment the NMR Team in Midland. Please, pass the following notice
along to any promising, newer Chemists with a strong interest in NMR.
Thank you for building such a wonderful association and allowing me to be a
small part of it. I wish AMMRL all the best and God's very best blessing on
each one of you.
Remember, God created the universe and all the nuclei we are so privileged
to enjoy. He gave us a wonderful world to live in and I exalt Him for it.
As I have grown to know Him better, I conclude that He really gave us this
world as an opportunity to prepare for the next. Don't miss it.
Regards,
Dick Taylor
