data format from GE Signa's

Folks,

Please accept my apologies for cross-posting, esp with such a left-field
question. However, I seem to recall a few members scattered far and wide who
work in medical research areas with a mix of clinical scanners as well as
regular research NMR spectrometers.

We are in that same boat at the moment, and are trying to import data from a
GE Signa human scanner into processing software which I use for data from
numerous spectrometers (Varian, Bruker, SMIS, GE NMR, etc)

Unless prompted, the Signa only saves the processed image data files.
These we could import fairly easily, figuring out that they were:
binary, real, 16 bit integer, non reversed byte, 7904 byte header.
But, what does GE do to the data during processing??!!

After much effort, we have managed to extract time-domain data from one of
these beasts. However, importing it is proving just as difficult. The
datasets have the wierdest file sizes, and given they should contain
multiple 256x256 2D images, I am always left concluding the header should be
something around 63K in size!!

Has anyone been down this path before??

Many Thanks,

Ross
