I might as well chime in on this subject, every other manager has it seems.
My way of doing this (for last 26 years or so) has been to remove probe
(they do come off fairly easily) and use the thumper tube to push up
through the bore gently and carefully, and have someone grab spinner when
up. No risk of damaging anything this way i think, and less invasive to
gross shim changes than removing upper barrel
