Scientist - Instrumentation & Analytical Chemistry

Amgen San Francisco (South San Francisco, CA)

Responsibilities will include supervision of the Chemistry Department's NMR,
mass spectrometry, and HPLC open-access facilities, as well as significant
hands on structural elucidation in support of various key medicinal
chemistry projects. You will be responsible for instrument maintenance,
trouble-shooting, user training, and developing/implementing techniques to
address the department's analytical needs. The position will be reporting to
VP, Chemistry, at Amgen SF.

The qualified candidate should have a strong background in small-molecule
instrumental analytical chemistry with a proven record of structure
elucidation for complex molecules using a variety of spectroscopic
techniques, including 1D/2D NMR and MS/MS. You should be highly skilled in
operating Bruker NMR spectrometers and setting up experiments such as nOe,
DEPT, APT, COSY, TOCSY, NOESY, HMQC, and HMBC. You should also be well
versed with HPLC. A Ph.D. degree in NMR, organic analytical chemistry,
natural products chemistry, or organic chemistry is required. Hands-on
experience with LCMS/MS is a plus.
