Re: Spinning Problems AMX-500

I have similar problems with our AM-360. Once every 2 months I remove the
shim assembly to clean the surface on which the spinner rests.
This is the spectrometer, which all our students use and I believe that
most of the dirt that accumulates is sweat and grease from touching the
spinner. It doesn't take much to stop the spinning.

It should not be necessary to remove the upper stack (the "pipe"). One
Bruker Service Engineer in Germany told me, that the easiest way to clean
the upper stack is to form a ball of kimwipes, put a little ethanol on it
and then push it with a broom-stick through the pipe a few times.
This actually works quite well.

Some tips:
Of course non-magnetic tools are a must, and I think that Bruker used to
include a few screwdrivers in their package.
It might be a good idea to have a second person catch the shim assembly
when you loosen the screws.
Mark the outline of the shim assembly on the bottom plate. you can twist
it by several degrees when the screws are not completely tightened.
