Hi Kenneth,
It is a major problem you are facing, and I can only echo what people have
said so far, particularly about interruptions to power, water, and air/nitrogen
and the need for constant communication and being kept informed.
Dust and dirt is a big problem, do all you can and block all entry ports with
draught excluders for under the doors, tape and cloth for other entry points.
Use of sticky mats for peoples' feet is also recommended. Ferromagnetic particles
are the big problem, in addition to sweeping and vacuuming I also put some small
magnets (I happened to have some neodynium ones on hand) in a small bag (use one
made of tough plastic) and tied it to the end of a broom and ran over the floor
with it - it was quite effective though I was hoping to see nothing after careful
and extensive vacuuming.
Strong vibrations from the demolition of foundations or solid walls can potentially
damage magnets, but otherwise are unlikely to be a problem in terms of damage. But
be prepared for some bad spectra during the times vibrations are being made as the
anti-vibration legs are not made to handle strong vibrations. Basically, if you want
to run you and need decent spectra you will have to run out of hours, that was my
experience.
I wish you lots and lots of luck, because you will need it at all stages, from the
beginning to the very end.
Best,
Karel
