As is our custom, those that benefit from the collective wisdom contribute back with a summary of the wealth of replies.

Therefore here is my due and thanks:

PureAire
        Users report:
- various configurations from in-room, to withdrawing samples to sensor in adjacent room setups
Usage-used in spectrometer rooms and filling stations
10yr life span of sensor - multiple users in 5yr range, no problems, no recalibrations,
Reliability - consensus was very good
Features - display % level a bonus allowing response before problem arises (especially fill stations)
Sensor replacement cost less than competing units
Relay contacts available for external monitors and remote/additional alarms
-price is about $1700 USD

Other units

Competing units are comparably costly with sensors that last 18-24 months (350-600 USD per sensor) but requiring recalibrations during that time and cause false alarms.

Oxigraf O2iM
-no consumables, no maintenance, put brochure says 10yr laser sensor.
- uses IR lasers at 4 pts in room to determine O2 levels and constantly recalibrates. Users said more expensive but more reliable with no “sensor” needing replacement. Got a general pricing quote ~$5700 which is triple +, so yes pricy.

PKsafety personal monitor - 2 yr sensor and then you have to decide replace unit or sensor (comparable cost)

Toxalert OXY2 - false alerts, some problems listed.

Thermal Gas Systems IR sensors - some alarm issues and re-calibration needed

RKI - $160 sensor with usual 1-2 yr replacement, with gradual decline in reading needing recalibration

Thank you to all (no implied order):
-apologies in advance for any spelling/typos etc.

and anyone else I may have missed mentioning

Specific contributions have been condensed and re-worded to protect the innocent
