Dear Fellow NMR Enthusiasts and Friends:

We are pleased to announce that the SMASH 2014 is shaping up to be an
incredible meeting. This year, Atlanta Georgia will play host to our
meeting. As we transform SMASH year to year to keep up with the evolving
landscape of our attendees we have made some small adjustments to the
overarching goal of the meeting. We will be ensuring to have a good blend
of novel science as well as applications oriented talks. It is our hope on
both the executive board and the organizing committee that all attendees
leave with the ability to apply the science that is observed during the
talks and presentations.

*Registration is officially open for SMASH 2014 being held September 7th
-10th. *Atlanta is a new venue for the meeting and we are excited to be
headed to this location. The site is very well suited for the meeting
giving both conferees and vendors good access to both high quality science
as well as each other.

*Again this year we will be adding upgraded talks in each of the sessions.*
Those interested in being considered as an upgraded talk should submit
their abstract (as a poster) before *June 30th.*

*There is a significant increase in student financial assistance and
networking opportunities.* Thanks to many sponsor contributions, SMASH is
excited to offer a *student registration of $180.00 USD.* A limited number
of Stipends are awarded to students and Post-Docs. In addition, SMASH will
be offering a *limited number* of scholarships to students and graduates
holding academic post-doctorate positions who present a poster. Please
visit the SMASH
Scholarships<http://www.smashnmr.org/conference/scholarships.html>page
for more information. Applications are due *June
30th*.

*Scientific Program is taking shape. *Dr. R. Thomas Williamson and
Professor Teodor Parella are putting together a high quality program.
These two scientists have been in the NMR community their entire
professional life and are intimately familiar with both theoretical and
applied NMR spectroscopy. At this time the following subject areas,
workshops and alternate activities will be covered (further details can be
found at the SMASH Program Page<http://www.smashnmr.org/conference/program.html>
):

*Regular Sessions:*

· Hyperpolarization Techniques - SSNMR and Liquids NMR of Small
Molecules

· Low Resolution/Low Field NMR

· Structure Elucidation of Complex Small Molecules (Natural
Products, etc.)

· Metabolite ID and Other NMR Applications at Very Low Levels

· Mixtures and Beyond

· Applications of Inorganic/Organometallic Chemistry

· Ligand Screening and Binding Studies

· Venturing Outside the ‘Standard’ NMR Toolbox

· NMR and Stereochemistry

*Workshops and Tutorials (run in parallel):*

· SESSION1: Pure Shift NMR and Kinetics/Dynamics/Reaction
Monitoring by NMR

· SESSION2: Fast NMR Including NUS/Single Scan NMR/ASAP Methods and
DFT Methods and Applications

*Alternate “tutorial” Activities:*

· Real-Time Demonstrations of “Special” Experiment set up or
Processing Data (e.g., Pure Shift, Experiments relating to RDC Measurement,
STD, HSQMBC Variants, etc…

· Structure Elucidation Boot Camp

*As in previous years, User Meetings will be held prior to the main meeting
on Sunday.* SMASH2014 check-in will open on the Sunday afternoon followed
by Dinner and a Welcome Mixer. The scientific program will begin Monday
morning and run *through* Wednesday.

*Important Dates include:*

30th June: Deadline for Consideration as an Upgraded Talk

1st August: Poster Abstract Submission Deadline

30th June: Scholarship Applications Deadline

1st August: Late Registration Begins ($50.00 USD late fee)

16th July: Notification regarding upgraded talks and stipends

29th August: Registration Closes

Please feel free to contact smashnmrorg_at_gmail.com for any additional
information or questions.

*Looking forward to seeing you in Atlanta!*
