When I re-set the clock on my Varian Gemini-200 to 5-17-10 (which
turns out to be 1910) I got a problem: when I try to LOGOUT I get
the following error:
LOGOUT RANGE ERROR LINE 1608
I have to reboot at this point. When I try to login as MASTER I get the error:
MASTER RANGE ERROR LINE 1608
This happened before when we had a power outage and I reset the date,
but I didn't realize at the time that it was the date setting that
caused the problem. The only way I could fix it was to wipe the hard
drive and reload all software (ouch! many floppy disks). Now it
looks like maybe "range error" means that the calculated duration of
the login is negative, or something like that. I can't change the
date back because I can't login as master. I'm hoping that someone
out there (Steve Silber?) remembers enough about this system to give
me helpful suggestions. If not it's back to a whole day of loading
floppies and rebuilding our users.
