Greetings AMMRL users-
I am an associate professor of chemistry at Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. We have a JEOL ECX-300 NMR spectrometer with an Oxford superconducting magnet (7 Tesla) that has been out of commission for several years now. We would like to find a 3rd party service person/company that could visit us and return the instrument to working order. I have tried several NMR service companies found through Google searches, and none of them have specific expertise with JEOL NMR instruments.
I have been working over the phone with JEOL's technical support people, but limited documentation and difficulties in communication have led us to the point where I would like to try a 3rd party service. We believe that our problems are due to the interconnect wiring and not due to a component failure. (No RF power into the probe, but we can see the lock signal.) The magnet has been maintained with cryogens and is still charged.
The work would involve restoring the proper wiring interconnections, recalibrating the cryogen-level gauges and accessories (8-position autosampler), and re-shimming the magnet.
We have considered having JEOL visit, but their out-of-contract service fees are outrageous. This job should be relatively easy for one experienced with JEOL spectrometers.
Please contact me if you have any options.
Thanks very much,
Chuck
