Ah, hearkening back to my mass spec days...
As I learned with a series of Brit MSs - all Edwards pump always
leak a small amount of oil (must have shared the design with old Brit
motorcycles!)
You keep a spare can of pump oil handy and meanwhile situate the
pump in a shallow, high-grade backing tray. See for example

though this one may be a bit short.
