RE: 19F chemical shift ranges

The XNMR product from Advanced Chemistry Development allows both the
prediction of F19 chemical shifts (and couplings) as well as searching
literature data by structure, substructure, name, chemical shift and so on.

Details can be found at www.acdlabs.com/products under the F19 NMR link.

Searching the DB by 5-fluorotryptophan gave the following references:

Biochemistry,1986,v.25,p.4240
Biochem. J.,1990,v.266,p.545

A screen capture of the DB hit is attached as a GIF file. Since the DB is
searchable you can define your own substructures for searching or simply
draw the structure to predict the shift. Best wishes

Mo,

I like the Gunther's NMR Spectroscopy (1980, Ch 10), for a short
introduction to 19F NMR. There are 19F books I know that list 19F
Chemical shifts and Coupling constants very extensively. If you do not get
your answer soon, let me know.

Sandip
