3M, an innovative diversified manufacturer with over 15 billion in sales
worldwide, has a scientific staff opening for a NMR Spectroscopist at the 3M
Corporate Analytical Technical Center located in St. Paul, MN. The candidate
will apply spectroscopic techniques to the characterization of unknown materials
for problem solving purposes. The position will involve a mix of laboratory
work and spectral interpretation (using our extensive collection of reference
databases). The nature of our corporate analytical facility ensures experience
with a wide range of materials. There is ample opportunity to be involved with
challenging problems ranging from the analysis of impurities to projects
requiring analytical expertise in the development of new products. The
laboratory is equipped with Varian 400, 500, and 600 high-resolution
spectrometers and a 400 WB system for solids.

The ideal candidate will compliment our talented staff of IR, NMR, and mass
spectroscopists. The requisite skills, in addition to expertise in NMR
spectroscopy, include organic chemistry and a general familiarity with other
analytical techniques. Good written and oral communication skills are essential
for communicating with problem solving teams and for documenting results.
Experience in NMR spectroscopy of solid polymeric materials is a plus.
Applicants should have Ph.D. degree or equivalent experience applying NMR to
analysis of chemicals and/or polymers.

If you have these qualifications and are an enthusiastic self-starter with the
desire to contribute to an innovative corporation, please send your resume to:
