Trying to follow phosphonoacetaldehyde hydrolase catalyzed hydrolysis of a 2
mM aqueous solution of phosphonoacetaldehyde (Pald) by observing changes in
31P NMR data as reaction proceeds. Work is being done for a graduate student
who has supplied all required reagents. The Pald supplied is probably no
more than ca. 55% pure. Have not identified impurities.
The problem: Hydrolysis is occuring even in the absence of the enzyme.
The solution: Find a supplier of very pure Pald.
If you know where to obtain this material, please contact us ASAP.
Many thanks and kindest regards,
Lawrence
