Hello everyone

I am posting this on behalf of Prof Katherine Borden, at IRIC,
University of Montreal, Canada. Anyone with an NMR/structural biology
background with protein expression  experience is encouraged to apply.

Interested parties should apply to bordenlabjobs_at_gmail.com. Informal
inquiries can be made to michael.osborne_at_umontreal.ca

PhD or Post-Doc position in biochemistry/biophysics/NMR and drug
    discovery (2 years)

        Job Description

We have an immediate opening for a PhD or Post Doctoral candidate to
work in the laboratory of Dr Katherine Borden, at the Institute of
Research in Immunology and Cancer at the University of Montreal. The
project will use a variety of techniques to develop specific inhibitors
for the human UGT family of enzymes which have recently been implicated
in a novel multi-drug resistance pathway of numerous FDA approved drugs
(Nature. 2014;511(7507):90-3, ACS Chem Biol. 2019, 14(3):348-355). The
successful candidate will build on our previous work in identifying
weak, specific inhibitors for UGT1A4 using a combination of NMR fragment
screening and biological assays (J Mol Biol. 2019 ;431(2):258-272) with
an aim to achieve one or more of the following: a) perform fragment
screens against other human UGT enzyme families to identify mechanisms
of specificity and recognition, b) generate 3D high resolution
structures of fragment bound protein complexes and c) improve efficacy
of candidate molecules whilst retaining specificity using biochemical
assays/SAR. The successful candidate will have expertise biochemistry,
specifically protein overexpression and purification in E.Coli and
experience in characterising protein interactions and using biochemical
assays.  Experience in one or more of the following techniques; NMR,
ITC, X-ray crystallography or medicinal chemistry will be considered an
asset, particularly in NMR/Xray.

molecular biology, cell biology and clinical techniques and recently
uncovered a novel clinical use for ribavirin in a subset of AML patients
