We have a Varian Mercuryplus 400 system running VnmrJ 4.2. The computer that was running RHEL 6.2 suffered a hard drive failure, and unfortunately the system was not backed up. The computer was part of an upgrade from only 2 years ago, and of course we only had a 1-year warranty.
And before you hit "Reply" too quickly, I know I should've been backing up all along! Also, I've contacted the vendor who sold us the computer, and they only want to sell us yet another computer for many thousands of dollars!
Currently, I am working with my IT folks to install VnmrJ 4.2 on CentOS 6.9 on a replacement hard drive in the same computer (Dell Precision T3500), as they do not support a license for RHEL, but found that 6.9 works better than 7.x. They seem to have been able to install VnmrJ okay, but there are a variety of issues, such as not receiving live feedback from the console for Temp/Spin/Lock, the status is 'Inactive', and the Lock Scan button appears greyed-out and doesn't work. I'm guessing there may be some patches or something that needs to be installed, but I have no idea where to go from here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
