Responsibilities:
The NMR Analytical Scientist will be part of an analytical group of 5 scientists that that supports polymer R&D and also has QC responsibility. Responsibilities will include conducting routine analyses, interpreting and reporting results, maintaining instrumentation, documenting procedures, validating test methods, developing new analytical methods, and advising others on test method capabilities. Materials characterized will include monomers, catalysts, additives, and polymers.
Education/Experience Requirements:
* Graduate degree in Chemistry or Polymer Science
* 3 or more years of experience with NMR spectroscopy, hands-on industry experience preferred
* Demonstrated expertise in both small molecule and polymer characterization
* Expertise in structure elucidation, experience with stereochemistry and polymer microstructural analysis preferred
* Demonstrated expertise with modern NMR techniques, software management, and instrument maintenance
* Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing analytical instruments through hardware and software modifications
* Strong knowledge of chemical properties, hazards and safe handling practices
* Experience solving material problems requiring integration of multiple analytical results
* Demonstrated experience in validating analytical test methods
* Broad knowledge of statistical methods and their successful application
General Skills and Physical Requirements:
* Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Written and verbal communication skills
* Good attention to detail and keen observation skills
* Good interpersonal skills
* Ability to maintain thorough, accurate records
* Good mechanical aptitude
* Ability to multi-task
* Action-oriented
* Manual dexterity required to use syringes and sophisticated glassware to operate and maintain instruments
* Must be able to lift 20 pounds up to 4 times per day, and stand up to 2 consecutive hours
