Hello All
Three days ago I had a problem with an unusually warm probe on an Avance3-500. My initial thought was a malfunction in either the probe heater or the temperature sensor but with the help of a Bruker hardware engineer, the finger is now pointed at the shim stack - at the time, hot enough so that a probe removed from the magnet was warm to the touch; ditto for the sample spinner. The problem mysteriously resolved itself overnight; homogeneity is fine; temperature back to normal for two days now.
Does anyone know of any reason why the shim stack would heat up in this way? Has anyone ever seen a similar problem?
Regards,
Craig.
