Thank you for all your suggestions. It turns out that my
CPU/motherboard was bad. I replaced them with a refurbished unit (I got
a 48 warranty on the board and CPU), and in addition I hopped on eBay
and bought an exact equivalent for $200. Although I know I am putting
money into end-of-life products, I believe I have bought myself time to
slowly start upgrading my ole Suns.
BTW, thanks for ya'll input concerning Sun Blades. It turns out
SunBlade 100s work just fine.
