NMR Spectroscopist

Merck's Safety Assessment Department employs over 500 scientists and support
staff and is responsible for the preclinical safety evaluation of Merck
candidate compounds.

This position is part of the expansion of the investigative toxicology
effort in Safety Assessment. The successful candidate will develop
metabonomics capabilities in the laboratory using NMR spectroscopy to
contribute to the characterization of mechanisms of toxicity and the
identification of biomarkers to be used to assess preclinical and clinical
toxicity issues.

The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in biochemistry, pharmacology,
toxicology, chemistry or equivalent. Demonstrated expertise in biochemical
applications of NMR spectroscopy, including experience with high field NMR
instrumentation and associated automation equipment, and at least 3+ years
of relevant postdoctoral experience in NMR spectroscopy are required.
Experience with metabonomics is desired.
