ASSISTANT RESEARCH SPECIALIST
(NMR SPECTROSCOPIST)
The Chemistry Department at Texas A&M University has an opening for a
highly motivated individual to perform NMR spectroscopy in the
departmental NMR facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting with user instruction and training on a variety of
solution state NMR spectrometers ranging from 200 to 500 MHz;
- Assisting users in the planning and interpretation of NMR
experiments;
- Routine maintenance on spectrometers, including magnet shimming,
performance spectra, probe changes, and cryogenic servicing;
- Running service spectra as necessary.
Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or any
equivalent combination of training and experience, with good
communications skills. Would prefer Masters or Ph.D. degree in
Chemistry. Requires 5 years experience with NMR spectroscopy.
Preferred experience includes two dimensional spectroscopy, probe
tuning and maintenance, cryogenic servicing, and system maintenance as
well as experience with Pulsed Field Gradients, protein samples, and
Unix and Varian software.
Salary: $32,000/yr. with excellent benefits. Starting salaries for
positions may be negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
