Hi Jessica.

I re-read your update, and it sure looks familiar. Once you figure out how
much extra VT air you need to get the sample out, I suggest you go in to the
BSMS web interface and adjust the “Hold Sample Airflow” setting, as
described in detail in my first reply. Adding the extra airflow number to
the default value for the Hold Air should give you a good starting point for
finding a good setting that should work reliably when the autosampler is bypassed.

It’s still a mystery to me why the default Hold value isn’t sufficient
to samples without the autosampler when more air is required to lift them
into the slider when the autosampler is in use.

Good luck!

First option I’d suggest for a sample stuck like that is to increase the
VT air flow to supplement eject air.

On one system I recently had trouble with I think I had to (gradually) increase to 1200 lph.

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for the detailed responses - I appreciate the guidance as I work
through this!

A brief update - a student was utilizing the instrument tonight and, while the
sample went down into the magnet (after a few up and down cycles), it appears
TopSpin does not realize there is a sample within the magnet. Troubleshooting
thusfar has involved disabling the autosampler and trying to utilize the lift
option to manually eject. Unfortunately, it appears the air pressure is not
ample enough to eject the sample/spinner.

Does anyone have any tricks for this issue? I will be working on this an hoping
to resolve this as soon as possible. (and then get back to addressing the other
potential troubleshoots for the previous email's issues).

Thanks again everyone!
Jessica
