Jinfeng,
At that pH the glass NMR tube will etch; we use Teflon inserts –

The only downside is that shimming suffers a bit.

Subject: AMMRL: High pH sample with NMR tube

Hi All,

We have a customer who is interested in running NMR for neat high pH sample (with pH value around 12.5). The experiment might take about one hour to finish at 25 C.

Is this high pH sample safe for NMR tube? Is precision NMR tube resistant to this kind of caustic sample? How about economic NMR tube?

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jinfeng
