To AMMRL Group,

During the last two years a group that includes veterinarians from the College of Veterinary Medicine at NC State University’s Center for Marine Science and Technology (CMAST), have been working to get a hybrid 4.7T/400 system operational for dedicated work on marine life. The system consists of a first generation UI console, pre SDAC/DECC boards, with RRI shims, and RRI 15cm gradient coil. It is running VNMRJ 1.1D on a Sun work station.

The gradient AMP’s are 8606 Techron’s. All this except the gradient coil, which is new, are 25-30 years old. Although it is working one problem still remains, the Y gradient will go into oscillation if we exceed 10 A . This only occurs when the X and Y are also on . If only Y is on there is no problem. This seems to be a feedback issue and we are working on it but at the end of the day we will still have a 25year old console and Amps. We are therefore looking for the best economical way to upgrade this system.

The Magnet and 15cm gradient coil are good. The Magnet is a Bruker/Oxford B-S40 that was fitted with a Cryomech PT400 LHe /LN2 Cryorefrigerator system to control the LHe and LN2 loss rates. We have the manual for the Magnet but we are missing CH10 -- the maintenance chapter. Does anyone have this chapter?

In closing we would like to find a newer vintage console and or gradient

Amps that would solve the ringing issue and if possible enable us to upgrade the software and computer.

If anyone knows of any equipment available ex. 200 MHZ imaging consoles ,

gradient amps, probes ect please contact me at fjbennis_at_gmail.com.

Thank You
