Fire Damaged Spectrometer

Hi Folks:

Having suffered a moderately low-temperature, but very
soot/smoke-intensive fire in one of our NMR labs in
December, we have temporarily lost a portion of our
facility, in particular our UNITY 500 and INOVA 400
spectrometers. We would like to know the following:

(1) Anyone else that has suffered similar smoke/fire
damage to any spectrometer and to what extent?

(2) Steps taken to repair or replace your consoles?

(3) If restoration was the route of choice: Which
company did you use?

(4) Any lingering problems after the restoration or
cleaning ... or any massive failures since that may
have been a result of (1) soot/smoke damage, or (2)
cleaning?

(5) Warranty (-ies) extended to you by either the
cleaning/restoration company, or your insurance company
to cover damage(s) that may have resulted from latent
fire/soot damage?

Any input to any of these questions would be very
useful to us. If it is warranted, I will post a
summary response to AMMRL ...

Thanks,

A. Condo
