Dear AMMRL,
The cold probe on our 600 MHz has been working for a year now and it is
time for us to consider the maintenance contract for the cryosystem. We
have been told that the cold head must be worked on once a year by an
engineer and that job alone might cost more than half of what the
contract costs. We know that the Helium compressor and the turbo pump
are two other main units beside the probe that could break down.
I would like to get feedbacks from those who have cold probes to see
what your experiences are on the cryosystem contract. Do you have (or
not have) contract for the whole cryosystem or just the cold probe? Do
you have any key component failure and how did you go about fixing it?
Any information and suggestions are very much appreciated. I can post a
summary in the end.
Regards,
Wei
