We recently purchased a Sun 18.1" TFT LCD flat panel monitor in
conjunction with the console upgrade on our 500. It was about $2300
(educational price). By the time one would buy a magnetic shield for a
conventional monitor the total difference in expenditure is relatively
small. It has more useable viewing area than the 19" conventional
monitor it replaces. It is quite wonderful... sharp, bright, wide viewing
angle and not a bit affected by the magnetic field. It uses a standard
13W3 video cable so it should work fine with SGI O2 or Indy.

In my opinion this is the only type of monitor one should purchase for
an NMR system these days.
