Dear AMMRL,

Thank you for all your help and recommendations.

Finally had a chance to finish the short film of the preparation and event video of our planned quench. As you can see the biggest problem was selecting footage, we had too many cameras. The purpose of the video is to document for our group the setup and experiences of the quench, and provide information for EHS, building services, etc. not familiar with superconducting magnets regarding future events. For example show that due care was taken in case something unexpected had happened.

I hope you will find this useful and fun in your work and classes, so feel free to use.

The video is restricted to only those with the following link.

Please don’t re-distribute the video as there may be corrections that need to be applied once others have had a chance to view it. I’d be grateful for any constructive recommendations, thoughts, corrections etc.

The formal Quench SOP documentation is almost done and will be sent to the AMMRL.

All the best,
Ryan

ps If we had to do it again we likely would have simply used the metal ducting all the way to the outside, but we weren’t sure at the time how much pressure was going to build, so we opted for the larger plywood corridor.
