Hello fellow NMRists,
I thought your information was very useful, Rich, (thank you!) and
following your theme, want to share what may seem very simple to some.
I've consolidated three spectrometers into one lab now, and have all the
spectrometer computers on one central group of tables. To reduce clutter,
annoyance and expense of excess printers, I use a USB switch to connect
all three computers to two printers. One is a B&W laser jet, very fast,
and the other is the typical color HP, grindingly slow printer. Users
can switch with a manual button, hot key or mouse-clickable icon on the
desktop (most popular). Most of the time, users just want a quick B&W.
The USB 2.0 Switch 4-to-2 cost about $30.
Happy holidays!
Kelly
