Hello Bruce and everyone,
At my NMR lab I am fortunate to have network administrators to beat back the
unwashed masses, but at home I use a product called SmoothWall. It does
essentially what Bruce described but with a nice GUI. The docs are also very
helpful in setting up a tight firewall. It only works on PC's, but any old box
will do. I have found it to be very stable and easy to use. It is a free download,
but they encourage donations. They can be found at
www.smoothwall.org
