Boron-free probe

Dear AMMRLers,

While doing B11 NMR we have had problems with background broad signal
obscuring sample peaks of comparable intensity and linewidth. While data
massaging (i.e. baseline correction and/or linear predicition) can
improve things in many cases, we would rather avoid making calls as to
which peak is real or not. Using boron-free quartz sample tubes did not
eliminate the problem, so we suspect that it originates from the probe
glass insert.

I understand there are boron-free glass inserts available. My questions:
How effective are they? Can you buy them separately from the probe and
install them yourself? Would such an installation void the probe
warranty? What is a good source and how much do they cost? Since the
particular probe is a 5mm inverse broadband one, is there an effect on
other nuclei?
