Lots of water under the bridge on this one, but I owe the group a response.
I wrote two years ago about a loss of traction on gripper fingers on a BACS-60.
I received several good suggestions, tried one of them, and the system has been
fine (no dropped tubes) since that time. Folks expressed interest in hearing
what fixes others had found, so here are the suggestions I received; the first
bullet is the one I tried.

  * small length of heat shrink tubing, 4.8 mm suggested diameter but I think I used a
      larger size; if this gets worn, it can just be cut off and replaced
  * Plasti-Dip dip coating (the thickness of the coating was a concern, so dilution with
      solvent might help if that became a problem)
  * hockey tape (I didn't want to risk adhesive catching on a tube, so I forewent this)
  * very fine grit (several thousands) wet sanding paper
  * silicone rubber grip tape

Replacement of the spring and/or O ring was also suggested if tubes are seen to slide downwards
while gripped (this hasn't been an issue for us yet).

All the best,

Heather
