Things are now settling down after the shock we have all had at Gitte's
untimely death on April 11th. We are starting to put together some plans
of how we hope to remember her. First, you are invited to a Memorial
Service to honor Gitte and celebrate her life that will be held on July
3rd at 5PM in the Faculty Club at the University of California San Diego.
This date is particularly fitting since July 2nd is Gitte's birthday, and
it also falls immediately after the Magnetic Resonance Gordon Conference.
We hope you will be able to attend. Please feel free to bring memories,
pictures or slides that you would like to share. Second, we are planning
to hold a Gitte Vold Memorial Symposium each January in La Jolla. An
endowment fund to support this symposium is being established through the
UC San Diego Foundation. If you wish to contribute, please send your
donation to the UCSan Diego Foundation 9500 Gilman Dr. La Jolla,
92093-0940 and earmark it for Gitte. Finally, as plans are made for both
the Celebration of Gitte's Life and the Memorial Symposium, information
will be posted on the following web site:
